Kim Jong Un visiting Russia

North Korean TV broadcast footage of Kim Jong Un leaving earlier this morning from an unidentified station to Russia via train. Kim Jong Un already arrived in Russia. The North Korean leader will meet Russian officials ahead of a conference with Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok.

Kim Jong Un travelled with some of his key aides including Kim Chang Son (one his main advisors), Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and nuclear negotiator Choe Son Hui.

Bilateral Trade amoun between these both countries reach US$46 million.

Reshuffles in the North Korean leadership

On April 11, North Korean authorities replaced its Cabinet premier and president of the Presidium of its legislative body during Thursday’s 14th SPA parliamentary meeting.

Kim Jong-un was also re-elected chairman of the State Affairs Commission. Kim Yong-nam steps down and was replaced by Choe Ryong-hae.

Premier Pak Pong-ju replaced by with Kim Jae-ryong – a senior member of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea. Nuclear negotiator Kim Yong-chol, Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho, and Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui elected as members of the State Affairs Commission.

On the same day, Kim Jong-un ordered to promote the military ranks of commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) on Sunday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. According to the order, Pak Jong-chon, Kim Kwang-hyok and Kim Myon-sik were promoted to general and thirty three persons including Jang Yong-su and Ko In-chol to major general.

On April 14, Order of Kim Il-sung were conferred on Ryu Jae-yong, Ri Chong-bok and Nam Ki-ho on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il-sung.


Cancellation of the US-NK summit: statement of Choe Son-hui

It seems to be clear: the summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un shall be postponed. Therefore, on Thursday 24th May, North Korean authorities issued a new threat to the planned Trump-Kim summit, scheduled for June 12 in Singapore.

The heavy North Korea’s vice-foreign minister Choe Son-hui, a longtime nuclear negotiator, said her country will reconsider the planned summit. She mentioned “If the U.S. continues with their evil acts, I will ask for the summit to be reconsidered.”

It is the second time, NK authorities threat to cancel the summit. North Korea’s first vice-foreign minister Kim Kye-gwan last Wednesday threatened to scrap the summit if Pyongyang was pushed towards “unilateral nuclear abandonment”.

Historic summit Friday between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will sit down for a historic summit Friday and will be accompanied by the most powerful officials from both countries. 200 kilometers separate them from Pan Mun-jom, the place where they will meet the South Korean delegation. Kim Jong-un will cross the border at 9.30 a.m. Korean Time. As of the 26th April, The KCNA (the North Korean press agency) is not providing information related to the “historical” trip of Kim Jong-un.
