The SPA formally appointed 12 officials, including Kim Jong Un, to the newly-created State Affairs Commission, which supplanted the National Defense Commission.
According to the KCNA, « at the proposal of Kim Jong Un, Hwang Pyong So, Pak Pong Ju and Choe Ryong Hae were elected vice-chairmen of the State Affairs Commission and Kim Ki Nam, Pak Yong Sik, Ri Su Yong, Ri Man Gon, Kim Yong Chol, Kim Won Hong, Choe Pu Il and Ri Yong Ho members of the State Affairs Commission ».
The decision of the SPA « On setting up the DPRK Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country », the fifth agenda item, was adopted.
According to the decision, the DPRK Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country will be set up and the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea be dissolved.
At the proposal of the Central Committee of the WPK, deputy Thae Jong Su was recalled from the post of member of the Presidium of the SPA in connection with his transfer to other post and deputies Kim Yong Chol, Pak Thae Song and Ju Yong Gil were elected members of the Presidium of the SPA.
At the proposal of the premier, Ri Ju O and Ri Ryong Nam were appointed as vice-premiers and Ko In Ho as vice-premier and minister of Agriculture.
At the proposal of the WPK Central Committee, deputy Pak Myong Chol was recalled from the posts of president of the Central Court of the DPRK and member of the Legislation Committee of the SPA as regards his transfer to other post and deputy Kang Yun Sok was elected president of the Central Court of the DPRK and member of the Legislation Committee of the SPA.
I consider that these changes have no real impact or meaning as we do not notice new heads at the head of North Korea. All of them are already known by North Korean watchers. Changes of name or rebranding of political structures are also typical in communist countries.
